4x4 Guided Green Lane Tours

More to see and do in La Creuse and throughout Le Limousin

The Creuse department, and the Limousin region in general, has a lot to offer in the way of historic sights, country hikes, markets, museums, and activities such as fishing, cycling, horse riding, canoeing and swimming.
If you are planning a holiday in this region you may find the examples (listed below) of interest.

The Monts de Gueret, a chain of hills covered by The Charbrieres Forest, is an ideal place for walking and cycling. Home to a protected pack of wolves, the forest also boasts Le Parc Animalier des Monts de Gueret. You can take a guided walk to their territory and view these wonderful animals in their natural environment. Or, you can just take a leisurely walk, in the beautiful surroundings, to one of many picturesque picnic sites.

The Three Lakes  -  Les Trois Lacs
There is a stretch of the River Creuse which has been dammed by the building of three barrages thus forming 'lakes' of tranquil water. There are 'beaches',  areas allocated for safe swimming, picnic tables and, in some cases, areas for children to play on swings, slides, etc.
Canoes can be hired for a gentle paddle to admire the scenery if you are so inclined.

Staying on the subject of canoeing...

If you would like to explore a stretch of the River Creuse, 1 or 3 man canoes can be hired at La Celle Dunoise. You can paddle for a morning, afternoon, or full day  -  you will be given a map which clearly shows your take-out/pick-up point.
As an added interest/challenge to this tranquil, scenic paddling there are several weirs to negotiate en-route (the level of difficulty will obviously depend on the time of year and speed/height of the river).

Even if paddling isn't your thing you may want to pay a visit to La Celle Dunoise. It is a pretty village with a choice of places to stop for a drink and/or a bite to eat overlooking the river and a bridge that dates from the fourteenth century.

The Courtille Leisure Park

Within walking distance of Gueret town centre  -  itself worth a visit for the weekly market, shops, restaurants and museum set in beautiful gardens  -  is The Courtille Leisure Park. The park is set around a 25 hectare lake where you can swim, relax on a sandy beach or partake in a number of water sports.

There are far too many lakes to mention them all, but just one more for your list...

Lake Eguzon is in the neighbouring department of Indre. The activities available here include:
Archery,  Boat hire,  Canoeing,  Fishing,  Mini-golf,  Sailing,  Swimming,  Tennis,  Water-skiing and Wind-surfing.
